The Spanish group Aena, which should be the only one interested in the Congonhas auction, already manages airports in Brazil such as those in Recife and Maceió, among other smaller terminals that it took over in the 5th round of concessions in 2019.
In the last passenger evaluation ranking prepared by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Recife appears as the second worst evaluated, behind Belém. The Maceió terminal, which is smaller, is at the other end, third among the best in the country.
In Europe, Aena operates the Madrid-Barajas airport, one of the main ones on the continent.
