‘Six Days Seven Nights’ Star Dies Aug. 12 – Los Angeles County Coroner’s Findings

The result of the coroner’s inquest into the cause of death of 53-year-old actress Anne Hess was announced about a week after she was taken off life support following a serious car accident on August 5.

The 53-year-old actress died of smoke inhalation and burns, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner.

A “blunt trauma sternum fracture” – which often occurs when an accident victim’s chest hits a steering wheel – was another “significant condition” after she crashed her car into a home in Los Angeles on August 5.

The “Six Days Seven Nights” star died on Aug. 12, and before her family decided to take her off life support, her rep explained that she was “brain dead” — which, under California law, can be defined as as death.

Ann Hess – who was reportedly under the influence of cocaine and possibly fentanyl, according to earlier reports – was driving her Mini Cooper when she crashed into the garage of an apartment complex, sparking a fire.

The actress, star of the NBC drama “The Brave,” never regained consciousness after suffering horrific burns in the crash. She had been kept on life support to preserve her organs for donation, according to her representative.

After her death, the Los Angeles Police Department chose not to investigate the accident.
