Senator asks STF to investigate businessmen suspected of defending coup

by

Senator Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP) filed a petition with the Federal Supreme Court asking for the investigation of Bolsonarista businessmen who would have defended, in a WhatsApp group, a coup d’état to keep Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in power, in case he loses. the elections.

The petition requests the taking of testimony of those involved, the breaking of confidentiality, the blocking of accounts and the necessary preventive arrests.

“They will not pass! We are petitioning the STF, asking for a breach of secrecy, blocking and, if necessary, imprisonment. Democracy cannot tolerate coexistence with those who want to sabotage it,” said Randolfe, who is leader of the opposition in the Senate and is part of Luiz’s campaign. Inacio Lula da Silva.

The existence of this group of businessmen and the exchanges of messages were reported by columnist Guilherme Amado, from the Metrópoles portal.

Bolsonaro says news about coup businessmen is false

In São José dos Campos (SP), where he visits a technology center, Bolsonaro called the portal’s post “fake news”.

“Which businessmen? What’s their name? Enough with the fake news. Which journalist [divulgou isso?] Almost every week you fire a minister of mine citing palace sources,” the president told journalists at an event in São José dos Campos.

“Guilherme Amado? Are you kidding. This guy is the end of the world. It’s a fake news factory. He accused Luciano Hang of coup, is that it?”, he asked without letting the reporter explain. “Show me that. Stop the worm in your head.”

Message group includes Luciano Hang, from Havan, who denies coup

The group includes accounts attributed to entrepreneurs from different parts of the country, such as Luciano Hang, owner of Havan, owner of Havan, Meyer Nigri, founder and chairman of the board of Tecnisa, Ivan Wrobel, of the construction company W3 Engenharia, Afrânio Barreira, of the Coco Group Bambu, and José Isaac Peres, owner of shopping mall giant Multiplan.

Hang even had his indictment proposed in the final report of the Covid CPI, for incitement to crime

The messages show the defense of the installation of a dictatorship and a coup in favor of Bolsonaro, but the participants do not indicate that they are articulating in this sense.

The owner of Havan confirmed to the Sheet who is part of the group, but said that he almost never manifests himself and at no time did he talk about the Powers.

“I see that my name sells newspapers and generates clicks. They involve me in every possible controversy, even though I have nothing to do with the story,” Hang told Sheet. “I am for democracy, freedom, order and progress.”

Asked about the founder’s manifestations in the group of businessmen, Tecnisa’s advisory informed that the company “does not speak on behalf of Meyer Nigri” and that he “is not a spokesperson for the company”.

Concern about frequent attacks by Bolsonarist groups against democracy led business and civil society entities, politicians and citizens to endorse letters in defense of the democratic rule of law in Brazil.

In one of the messages, according to the Metrópole portal, José Koury, owner of Barra World Shopping (RJ), would have stated that he would prefer a “coup than the return of the PT” and added that the installation of a dictatorship would not bring economic losses, because “with Certainly no one will stop doing business with Brazil, as they do with several dictatorships around the world.

Another message released and included in Rodrigues’ petition to the STF came from Ivan Wrobel, from W3, who says that the September 7 parade will inhibit initiatives against Bolsonaro. “I want to see if the STF has the courage to rig the elections after a military parade on Av. Atlântica with the troops applauded by the public”, he published.

Marco Aurélio Raymundo, known as Morongo, owner of the surfwear brand Mormaii, replied that “September 7 is being programmed to unite the people and the Army and at the same time make it clear on which side the Army is”.

At another point, another businessman stated that the “coup would have had to have taken place in the first days of government”.

To Metrópole, some businessmen expressed themselves denying that they defend a coup d’état or that they support acts that are illegitimate, illegal or violent.

In the petition presented to the Supreme Court, however, Randolfe Rodrigues argues that the facts exposed “are already very serious” and adds that new stories involving the group must still be disclosed.

The senator adds that the inquiry that investigates the attacks on the democratic regime would be the best instrument to include the investigation regarding businessmen.

“The present investigation, which investigates attacks on the democratic regime, is the best instrument to answer these questions, and it is imperative that the STF act in defense of the Federal Constitution, the democratic regime and the electoral system”, states the text of the petition.

“In this way, it is required that the facts reported […] with the immediate referral to the Public Ministry and the Federal Police for the taking of testimony of those involved, the breach of confidentiality, the blocking of accounts and the necessary preventive arrests”, he concludes.
