As was already known through an official announcement by Panathinaicthe Athena Papafotiouit is past both the team and the volleyball after a great career.
Indeed, the Greek passer -maker sent her own moving message by posting on Instagram. The ex -volleyball player said she feels lucky to have conquered title and championshipseven if they were much less than they didn’t come.
At the same time, she mentioned in the last 4 years of her career, when she was lucky enough to live unique moments with Panathinaicreturning to Greece.
Finally, he talked about what it means to her volleyballwhile it was implied that her journey to sport It is not over, as it may return from another post.
In detail her message:
I would like to be able to describe what sports and championship means to me, but it is difficult for me. Maybe because it’s not something you just do … but something you are!
I am grateful because I managed to live a lot of what I had dreamed of, but also many I didn’t imagine. Lucky to win titles and championships, even if they were much less than I didn’t come. And happy to remember, just before the end (though not alone), the real reasons I chose this game and loved it, long before the result took first place.
One of them is the locker room. There is nothing perfect, nor is it ideal, but it is the place that all those little stories that eventually shape the big!
And the stadium, here still justice, and rarely wins the best. Where I learned that we are not fighting alone. Our neighbor also fights, and the opponent also fights.
To realize every day that, whatever happened in the past, you have the opportunity to start from the beginning is perhaps the most valuable lesson of these 25 years, and I hope I do not forget it by leaving the stadiums.
The jerseys I wore were many and I loved them in a different way. After all, championship requires this, or better, gives it, without asking you.
The people I met, the teammates and the opponents, the coaches, the referees and the journalists, my friends, my family, all have their own unique role on this route.
And the fans who make the game shine! Without them, nothing would be the same.
For the last 4 years, I was lucky enough to live unique moments with Panathinaikos, returning to my country. It was a dream come true, and the greatest honor to be the leader of this team. My goal was to best represent the values of Panathinaikos and sports, and to bring the team back to the top, with respect to its history.
The applause and song of our world in the last race, despite the defeat, was the most beautiful farewell that an athlete could have.
The route from the locker room to the stadium, wearing the jersey of the match, will always be my favorite moment ??.
I close this circle as a athlete with the greatest joy and pride that I have served this role with dedication, living in moments that only sport can offer.
Thank you all from the depths of my heart for being part of my own story.
PS.1: And if this story ends here, it may be to start a new one…
