Sintelmark (a union that represents the telemarketing sector in São Paulo) launched a campaign to try to improve the image of the sector. Under the name of “Communication + Assertive”, the action wants to encourage companies to adopt self-regulatory practices.
Laurent Delache, president of the union, says that the idea is to improve communication between companies and the final consumer.
The entity suggests that contact center companies adopt the code of ethics defined by Probare (Brazilian Program for Self-Regulation of the Relationship Sector), which certifies companies with good practices.
The telemarketing industry is under pressure. In July, 180 companies were suspended by the Ministry of Justice for the practice of abusive telemarketing. They are prohibited from making calls to offer products and services to customers who have not consented to contact.
The union argues that the suspension weakens customer service systems and puts jobs at risk. The relationship sector employs around 1 million people in Brazil, of which around 400,000 are in São Paulo.
