Panel SA: Rock in Rio should help offset lukewarm demand for bus tickets on 7 de Setembro

by

Rock in Rio should help to heat up the sale of road tickets at the beginning of this month, which has registered more lukewarm demand for the September 7th holiday.

According to Buser, the expectation is to reach 60,000 passengers bound for Rio de Janeiro for the period from September 1 to 12. Until this Wednesday (31), the platform has 51 thousand reservations. In comparison with the same period in August, the increase is 60%. To meet demand, the company says it has hired extra partners to create more than 660 new groups for Rio.

“As Rock in Rio starts on Friday of this week, and September 7 was in the middle, there may be a false feeling that this increase in demand refers to the holiday. But what we have seen and, from what we know about buying behavior, this high demand is much more a function of Rock in Rio”, says Letícia Pineschi, from Abrati (association of passenger transport companies).

According to Pineschi, the event should compensate for the low demand for a holiday that falls on Wednesday. “It’s two weeks [de festival]so you can dilute the demand”, she says.

Until last Monday (29), the capital of Rio de Janeiro was at the top of the list of most sought after destinations on ClickBus, a marketplace for selling road tickets, for the Independence holiday, followed by São Paulo and Curitiba.

The Buson platform also recorded an increase for 7 de Setembro on the route from São Paulo to Rio in comparison with the previous week.
