Panel SA: Nurses react after Amil says he will not pay for new floor

by

Nurses in São Paulo reacted after UnitedHealth Group, owner of Amil, sent employees a notice that it will wait for the decision of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) before paying the new floor for the category.

The statement was sent to employees on Wednesday (31).

“Amil is a large operator, which had high profitability in the last year, including because of the pandemic, which ended up taking the lives of nursing professionals. Readjusting the floor to the approved value would minimally recognize the importance of this category”, says Solange Caetano, secretary general of Seesp (São Paulo nurses union).

The CNSaúde (employers’ union), author of the ADI (Direct Action of Unconstitutionality) that questions the new floor in the STF, projects the dismissal of 83 thousand employees throughout Brazil. According to the sector, hospitals will not be able to afford the R$ 17 billion increase in budget costs, especially philanthropic ones.

Solange Caetano says that layoffs will overwhelm professionals and jeopardize customer care and safety.
