What is Stavros Kafounis requesting in his letter to the Prime Minister
“The creation of a definitive last brave arrangement of 120 installments with the possibility of repaying all debts, while at the same time rewarding those who are consistent” requests the president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce Stavros Kafounis, with his letter to the prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
The president notes that traders expect to hear in the announcements from the forum of the TIF to make specific reference to Greek trade, with interventions that will:
– support disposable income
– strengthen financing and will provide incentives for investment
– lighten even more the unbearable burdens of the large and expensive state
– keep rents at reasonable levels
– rationalize fines, simplify the functioning of the market and tackle anti-trafficking.
More specifically, the president of the ESA asked calculated income support, with increases in wages and pensions, but also subsidizing work, so that they are not required to be returned in multiples.
Utilization of European resources for the benefit of very small businesses, so that the growth of the market is not based only on mergers and acquisitions, but also on increasing the turnover of each business.
Mr. Kafounis continued, asking for the creation of a definitive final brave arrangement of 120 installments with the possibility of repaying all debts, while simultaneously rewarding those who are consistent. “This measure is an imperative in order not to lose businesses that want and are able through their work to contribute to the public coffers and continue to create wealth for the Greek economy.”
He also proposed interventions aimed at keeping rents at reasonable levels, to avoid foreclosures and dark storefronts, called for easing the burden on property, as well as continuing to reduce the insurance and tax burdens created by the large and expensive state.
Finally, he called for the continuation of the reforms and modernization of the market’s operating framework, as was rightly done with the abolition of the outdated institution of intermediate discounts, but also the rationalization of fines, which must be educational and not punitive in nature, and of course the strengthening of the effort to combat of middle trade, which deprives businesses of taxes as well as revenue from public funds.
Concluding his letter, the president notes: “If all the above is achieved, trade, which is the strongest sector of the Greek economy, will continue to contribute to social cohesion and effectively support the growth and transition of the economy to the new digital, friendly in the environment and in man era. In any case, in order not to lose all the good and positive things that have been done in the last difficult years, we must take advantage of the great opportunity we have and united through the development of the private initiative to create the conditions that will keep young people in the country but also allow to those who emigrated to return and prosper in their homeland”.
