Panel SA: Bolsonaro’s Imbrochable Should Not Affect Voters Without a Defined Vote, Says Analyst

by

Bolsonaro’s September 7th should stand as a landmark of the end of the feeling of having already won for Lula’s campaign in this final stretch. That was the assessment of Renato Meirelles, president of the Locomotiva Institute, which prepares political analysis reports for large companies.

By softening his stance of confrontation with institutions, questioning the polls and defending weapons, the president did not alienate the average electorate, according to Meirelles.

Even the declaration that it is “imbrochable” has more negative weight among women with ideological positions already established against the president, therefore, with little effect on votes. Meirelles assesses that Bolsonaro’s structural machismo has already been naturalized and does not sensitize the electorate or even, which the president is now trying to conquer. “What this woman still without a defined vote does not tolerate is hunger and the arms discourse”, she says.
