After the wave of demand for stationary bikes during the closing of gyms in the pandemic, the trend is now reversed: the resale of these equipment in the second-hand market.
OLX, an ecommerce platform specializing in used products, recorded an 18% increase in the purchase of exercise bikes in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2021.
On the same basis of comparison, the volume of product advertisements placed on the site also grew, which reflects the sales intention. The indicator rose 13%.
The trend also happened in the United States. Peloton, the stationary bike brand that became a fever in the pandemic, even cut 20% of its staff when the reopening of the economy drove people back to the gym, affecting its business.
