The Minister of Environment and Energy, Kostas Skrekas, announced the programs “Save”, “Change device” and professional energy communities, speaking at the meeting of the administration of the Athens Chamber of Commerce.
At the same meeting, the minister mentioned that the EU adopts the Greek proposals for imposing a ceiling on the import price of natural gas, as well as the model of taxation of surplus profits that our country already applies.

In this context, he announced the following programs:
- Save for business, €360 million to upgrade the building stock of small and medium-sized enterprises in tourism, services and some secondary sectors. The Guide will be pre-published in October.
- I am changing a device for businesses, with a budget of 160 million euros to replace heating and air conditioning systems with more efficient ones. Also the Guide will be pre-published in October.
- With a legislative initiative, it will be possible to establish energy communities by businesses that will be able to utilize the method of virtual energy offsetting by installing, for example, a photovoltaic plant in another prefecture, in the medium or high tendency to offset the consumption of businesses.
Mr. Skrekas reiterated that the government will continue to support professionals for as long as the crisis lasts, while taking specific measures to ensure energy sufficiency. In this context, a mechanism for limiting consumption for large companies (medium and high voltage) during peak hours (6-9 or 6-10 pm) is planned in the context of the European decisions expected for a mandatory reduction of 5% in the specific time zone.
The savings mechanism as well as the framework for electricity cuts due to debts were discussed in yesterday’s meetings of Mr. Skrekas with representatives of the competent bodies and suppliers.
The president of the Chamber of Commerce, Yiannis Hadzitheodosiou, asked for a reduction in taxes and a ceiling on energy prices. He also noted that the government has allocated significant funds for electricity subsidies while an expanded heating subsidy is also expected.
