“We will exhaust every margin of the economy to support households and businesses” said Energy Minister Kostas Skrekas, to SKAI and Giorgos Autias.

Energy Minister Kostas Skrekas spoke to SKAI and Giorgos Autias about the “burning” issues of the effects of the energy crisis on consumers’ wallets.

As he stated, the price of heating oil starts at 1.31 while for diesel, “we are monitoring the situation and as soon as necessary we will intervene. It will be announced by the prime minister. It will depend on international oil prices.”

For natural gas, he stated that there is a subsidy of 80 euros per thermal hour.

“We will exhaust every margin of the economy to support households and businesses,” he said.

We remind you that according to exclusive information from SKAI, the government is weighing the fiscal margins, and is preparing to intervene, with the most likely time point for the measure to come into effect on November 1st.

International prices will also determine the extent of the subsidy. The base case scenario is at least 15 cents a litre, but the subsidy could be higher if prices drift further. The measure will apply to all consumers, with no scenario for a reduction in Excise Tax.
