Italy and Germany have asked for additions to the text – Everything points to an agreement on the common market for energy products and on reducing demand – Disputes remain on the ceiling
With a strong majority, two of its three proposals are accepted by the 27 leaders Commission to address the consequences of the energy crisis and sufficiency.
According to Politico, the European leaders in Summit meeting agree on the general outline of the Commission’s proposals for the common market of energy products and for the reduction of demand, with the exception of two member states, which requested additions and clarifications.
More specifically, 25 member states accept the draft conclusions with the Commission’s proposals, except for Germany and Italywhich requested that some sentences be added.
The big issue, of course, remains the prices of natural gas and especially their interconnection with electricity production. This particular issue divides them Europeanswho do not – for now – agree on a common policy, much less on a ceiling.
The disagreements over the ceiling appear impossible to overcome at this stage, which has intensified rumors of holding a Sixth Council meeting in November to find a common formula.
