Deposits by households and private non-profit institutions rose by €753m in September
They presented an increase of 753 million euros in September 2022 the deposits of households and private non-profit institutions, against an increase of 465 million euros in the previous month and the annual rate of change rose to 4.6% from 4.4% the previous month.
Business deposits increased by 1.5 billion euros compared to a decrease of 376 million euros in the previous month, while the annual rate of change increased to 11.5% from 7.8% in the previous month.
In particular, the deposits of non-financial enterprises (MXE) increased by 1,879 million euros, against a decrease of 412 million euros in the previous month.
Deposits of insurance companies and other financial institutions decreased by 377 million euros, compared to an increase of 35 million euros in the previous month.
As a result of the above, the deposits of the private sector as a whole recorded an increase of 2.25 billion euros. On the contrary, the State’s deposits decreased by 448 million euros.
On the lending side, the monthly net flow of financing to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative by €27 million in September 2022, compared to a negative net flow of €132 million in the previous month. The annual rate of change in their funding was almost unchanged at -2.2% from -2.1% the previous month.
In contrast, the monthly net flow of financing to businesses in September 2022 was positive at €723 million, compared to a positive net flow of €133 million the previous month, while the annual rate of change increased to 12.5% from 12 .2% in the previous month.
Specialista, the annual rate of change in financing of non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 12.3% from 11.5% in the previous month. Their monthly net funding flow was positive by 745 million euros, compared to a positive net flow of 160 million euros the previous month. The annual rate of change in the financing of insurance companies and other financial institutions fell to 14.9% from 19.6% in the previous month. Their monthly net funding flow was negative €22 million, compared to a negative net flow of €27 million the previous month.
Overall the annual rate of change in total private sector financing increased to 6.0% from 5.8% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of total financing to the private sector was positive by €753 million, compared to a negative net flow of €20 million in the previous month.
