The PRF (Federal Highway Police) called the AGU (Advocacy-General of the Union) to seek legal action to prevent the occupation of federal roads, as has been happening since the dawn of this Monday (31).
Criticized for acting in the midst of road blocks, the PRF defends in a note that since the beginning of the blockades “it has taken all measures to return to the normality of flows”, directing teams to the locations and initiating negotiations.
But he said that he is trying to use dialogue to guarantee, “in addition to free and safe transit, the citizens’ right to demonstrate.” With the recourse to justice, the PRF wants a measure that prevents protesters from interrupting the flow of vehicles.
According to the PRF, there are total or partial road blocks in at least 11 Brazilian states. The Presidente Dutra highway, which connects São Paulo to Rio de Janeiro, is completely closed at Barra Mansa (RJ).
The blockades are carried out by Bolsonarista militants, in protest against the results of the elections, and do not have the support of leaders of autonomous truck drivers, such as Abrava (Brazilian Association of Motor Vehicle Drivers).
On the other hand, they are inflamed by bolsonaristas influencers, such as the federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP).
The PRF says that it has activated the AGU in all states where there are blocks to obtain an injunction to “peacefully guarantee the maintenance of fluidity on Brazilian federal highways”.
“The PRF is located in all identified locations with personnel mobilized at the blocking points and remains working by free flow on federal highways, enabling the flow of production, as well as the right of citizens to come and go”, says the note.
The stoppage comes a day after the PRF became the target of criticism for promoting public transport inspection operations, an action that was seen by the PT campaign as a strategy to delay voters of the elected candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
In the text distributed this Monday, the PRF states that it is a “permanent State institution”, which “has always worked with the commitment to guarantee efficient mobility, the preservation of public order, road safety and the fight against crime on Brazilian federal highways”. .
