Access on Monday night (31) to Guarulhos airport via the Helio Smidt highway was hampered by the blocking of the two lanes, causing the cancellation of at least three flights, according to the concessionaire that manages the terminal.
A group of protesters in favor of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and against the result of the elections, which gave victory to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), chose the place to protest. They ask for a hit.
GRU Airport, the concessionaire that manages São Paulo’s international airport, informs that there is still difficulty in accessing the terminals, due to the demonstration, in both directions of the highway.
According to GRU, so far, three flights from Latam and one from United Airlines have been cancelled. The concessionaire advises passengers to check the status of their flights with the respective airlines.
The protest would have started around 7 pm this Monday and, according to the GRU, the demonstration continued around 10 pm.
The concessionaire said that there is still no information about new cancellations that affect flights this Monday or Tuesday, but reinforced the recommendation to consult the airlines.
The company explains that the difficulty in accessing the airport compromises both the transit of passengers and that of terminal and company employees.
Supporters of President Bolsonaro, including truck drivers, started on Sunday night (30), after the election results were announced, a series of roadblocks across the country.
The PRF (Federal Highway Police) recorded this Monday (31), by the end of the night, 321 points of blockages or agglomerations on roads in 25 states and the Federal District.
