Bolsonaro’s silence is read in groups of radicals as a request for resistance and a coup

The two-day silence of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who has not yet acknowledged electoral defeat, is read by radical groups on Telegram as an incentive for road blocks and “civilian resistance”.

Several messages in the groups give guidance to those present at the barricades. They ask that, if approached by the police, protesters do not quote Bolsonaro or mention article 142 of the Constitution or military intervention.

The recommendation is that they request “federal intervention” and that they persist on the roads for 72 hours. The strategy, without legal basis, is that, after this period, Bolsonaro could ask for an intervention by the Armed Forces.

Since Monday night (31), several messages have been circulating saying “understand the difference” and then listing what they say would be the distinctions between asking for “article 142”, a “military intervention” and a “federal intervention”.

They point out that the latter option would be ideal because it would guarantee that the president would remain in power until the end of the term with the right to reelection. They also defend that Bolsonaro install a Superior Military Court to arrest the ministers of the Federal Supreme Court and politicians.

Other messages present strategies to try to circumvent fines and punishments.

“Guidance also from a friend of the PRF: he just informed us that we can stay on BR and that we won’t be fined. cars or trucks”, reads a message distributed in several groups.

“If the police ask who the leader is organizing, say that we don’t have a leader, that we are all together. This will not give the right to fines in CPFs or CNPJs”, says the author.

Since Sunday night, when Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) was elected, Telegram groups began to intensify coup, violent and xenophobic discourses. Bolsonaro’s silence became a constant subject and generated several interpretations.

The most widespread is that the chief executive “cannot speak in article 142 because he can be arrested, but the people can”.

“The Armed Forces can demonstrate if the mass people ask in the streets, and it’s not to let the people from up there do it, it has to be in the four corners of Brazil, it has to stop more than the other time that the truck drivers did .”

In addition, although Bolsonaro did not make any statement after the result of the investigation, his statements of a coup-like nature throughout his term are already sufficient as a recommendation for the groups. For example, live videos were shared in the groups in which Bolsonaro said he needed the people on the streets to take any action, otherwise he would be a dictator.

Several Telegram groups with thousands of members have already been blocked by the TSE (Superior Electoral Court). Many of them manage to create reserve channels, where they maintain video and audio chats.

In one of them, with about 600 people this Monday morning (1st), Pastor Jackson Villar, who had the channel blocked by order of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, president of the TSE, is the one who gives the orders.

“Bolsonaro cannot say that [convocar pessoas às ruas] because he gives mango cloth. He has to accept Lula’s victory and let the people do the rest,” he said.

Villar’s former group, with 180,000 members, was overthrown on Friday (28) due to attacks against the polls, xenophobia and threats to authorities.

A motorcycle organizer, Villar has photos with Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), elected governor of São Paulo. He tried to run for federal deputy for São Paulo, but was denied registration by the Electoral Justice.

His group does not accept electoral defeat and cites article 142 to demand a coup d’état by the Armed Forces.

In the groups, there are requests for militants to bring food and water to those who maintain the strikes. There is also mention of helping truck drivers via Pix and reports of sending TVs, chemical toilets and supplies to coup protesters.

The recommendation is that they forget the idea of going to the front of the barracks and join the highways.
