States with coup roadblocks drop to 14; accompany

by

The number of states with Bolsonar protests that dispute the result of the presidential elections without evidence dropped to 14 on Wednesday night (2), according to the PRF (Federal Highway Police).

The movement weakened during the holiday, reaching six states less than on Tuesday night (1st).

Ceará, Rio de Janeiro, Roraima, Goiás, Maranhão, Pernambuco and Bahia cleared all roads. In Rio Grande do Sul, the PRF even demobilized protesters throughout the day, but they already have new points of protest.

Bolsonarista stronghold, Santa Catarina is the state with the highest number of blocks, with a total of 34. Mato Grosso follows, with 31 records so far.

São Paulo, Acre, Amazonas, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Paraná, Rondônia, Rio Grande do Sul and Tocantins also register protests by Bolsonaristas this Wednesday.

The Northeast, on the other hand, in which Lula had almost 70% of the votes, has only one blockade in Maranhão at the end of this Wednesday afternoon.

The number of bans has also dropped, but there are still around 120 points in the country, 70 fewer than the 190 recorded around 9 pm on Tuesday. The number reached 235 points before President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) spoke on Tuesday afternoon.

In São Paulo, there are points on Dutra, and Castelo Branco was released in the early afternoon after the Military Police Shock Troop used water jets and tear gas.

In Santa Catarina, a state that leads with 34 points of interdiction, the PRF used stun bombs in the morning to release one of the main stretches of the BR-101 highway, in Palhoça, in Greater Florianópolis.

Fuel supply problems worsen in places where there are still blockages, such as Santa Catarina and in the region of Campinas (SP). In Santa Catarina, around 70% of the gas stations are out of products, according to the local dealers’ union. In the Campinas region, Amparo suspended garbage collection and Limeira declared a public emergency.

The mobilizations continue even after the STF (Federal Supreme Court) threatens to fine R$100,000 and even arrest the director general of the PRF (Federal Highway Police), Silvinei Vasques, if there is no effective measure by the corporation to clear the roads.

The Supreme Court summoned governors and authorized the use of the Military Police, including on federal highways, to free roads. It also determined the arrest for flagrante delicto of people who are committing crimes against the democratic rule of law.

The PRF has already applied almost 2,000 fines to drivers who are blocking the highways, in an amount that already exceeds R$ 18 million.

On Tuesday, 25 flights at São Paulo de Guarulhos International Airport were canceled because of a demonstration on the Hélio Smidt highway, which has since been cleared.

See blocking points confirmed by the state’s highway concessionaires or police on the morning of this Wednesday. The text will be updated with more information throughout the day.
