Caixa Econômica Federal started to pay the FGTS birthday withdrawal (Fundo de Garantia do Tempo de Serviço) to workers born in November who opted for this modality. Cash withdrawal started on November 1st and runs until January 31st, 2023.
The amounts are only available for those who gave up the withdrawal-termination, paid on dismissal without just cause, and opted for the model that allows withdrawal in the anniversary month. The money that is not withdrawn will return to the worker’s account after the end of the term.
When does the birthday withdrawal money drop?
The release occurs in the month of the worker’s birthday and cannot be done before. It starts on the first business day and has a period of three months established by Caixa, according to the calendar below. For workers born in September, the money is available until the end of this month.

It is not necessary to go to a Caixa branch or bank correspondent to receive the amount. The amounts are transferred from the FGTS account, through the application of the same name, to the worker’s account. After the withdrawal request, the money is released after five working days.
The option for the modality can also be made by those born in November, only through the FGTS app. It is necessary to inform the CPF and create a password. In the application, you will need to accept a term of adhesion with explanations about the rules.
According to Caixa, until last Tuesday (1st), about 28 million workers across the country opted for the FGTS birthday withdrawal. Anyone who wants to return to the previous modality can also make this return, but will only return to the withdrawal-withdrawal after the 25th month.
However, it is only possible to return if there is no advance of the amounts, through loans that anticipate the birthday withdrawal, with interest charged to the worker.
Released amounts are limited
The worker who opts for the birthday withdrawal cannot withdraw all the money from his account. According to the law that defined the modality, from 2019, there is a percentage defined according to the amount available.
The percentages released range from 5% to 50% of the sum of all the worker’s FGTS account balances plus an additional portion, as shown in the table below.

Understand the difference between anniversary withdrawal and termination withdrawal
The birthday withdrawal is the possibility of withdrawing money from the first day of the month of the worker’s birthday until two months after the end of it. Termination is paid upon dismissal without just cause.
If the worker chooses the anniversary modality, he will not have access to the FGTS when he ends his relationship with the company. In this case, however, other rights will be paid, such as a fine of 40% on the total balance of the Guarantee Fund in that account, for those dismissed without just cause, or 20%, in cases of dismissal by agreement.
