PRF uses video of Bolsonaro and Choque to demobilize blockades in SC

After three days of highways taken by coup demonstrations, Santa Catarina is quickly getting rid of the blockades. Throughout the morning of this Thursday (3), the number of blocks fell from 28 to 7:30 to 7 to 13:30.

The Federal Highway Police (PRF) has been able to demobilize most of the protesters by showing images of the actions of the Shock Troop in other parts of the state and video recorded by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) asking his supporters to clear the roads.

Two blockades remain critical, according to the PRF, due to the presence of thousands of protesters and unwillingness to negotiate: in Joinville, at km 25 of the BR-101, and in Rio do Sul, at km 139 of the BR-470.

In this early afternoon, agents were working to completely unlock the BR-101 in Joinville. BR-470 remains the most critical highway, with four roadblocks from Rio do Sul.

Earlier, around 6:45 am, at km 441 of BR-101 in Santa Rosa do Sul, there was an accident with death due to the roadblocks. When one truck slowed when it came across the roadblock, another didn’t notice and slammed into the back of the first. The driver, a 51-year-old man, died at the scene, and the 26-year-old passenger was seriously injured.

Since Tuesday morning, the PRF has been counting on the support of the Military Brigade to disperse the protests, in case the protesters do not clear the roads immediately.

State government services, such as the distribution of meals and vaccines, gas stations, restaurants, factories, logistics and transport companies are among those affected in Santa Catarina due to the blockades.
