SBT presenter Carlos Roberto Massa, aka Ratinho, donated R$ 1.8 million to the campaign of his son, Ratinho Júnior (PSD), re-elected governor of Paraná in the 1st round with 69% of valid votes. The donation, however, only took place almost a month after the victory.

The value of the donation placed Ratinho among the 20 largest donors, according to the TSE (Superior Electoral Court).

In all, the governor of Paraná raised R$ 10.6 million in the reelection campaign, but until the afternoon of this Thursday (3) the expenses exceeded R$ 14 million. According to TSE data, the campaign has a deficit of R$ 3.4 million.

Sandra Duda, president of PSD Mulher and director of finances for the party in Paraná, denied that the transfer was made to cover some kind of gap with the hiring of services and payment of employees.

He also said that the donation of Ratinho was already foreseen by the campaign and was made following the legal rules of the TSE.

Most of the donations received by Ratinho Júnior cover BRL 7.4 million from the PSD state directory and BRL 3.1 million from individual transfers, including BRL 1.8 million from his father.

The re-elected governor’s bills were sent to the electoral court on Monday (31) and will now undergo a standard review process until graduation, scheduled for December 19.
