“Silver” medal worldwide for the Athens Stock Exchange in October – The winners and losers of the 10 months

According to Deutsche Bank data, the Greek stock market achieved the second best performance internationally in the environment of all assets – shares, bonds, commodities and currencies – after the Russian MOEX index.

The month of October is associated with the “black” days of the markets. October 2022 was completely different.

The Dow Jones posted its biggest monthly gain (+14%) since 1976 in October after a two-month losing streak. Accordingly, the S&P 500 gained 8% and the Nasdaq 4%.

In European markets, on a monthly basis, the FTSE 100 gained 2.7%, the DAX gained 8.5% and the CAC 40 gained 8.1%.

However, the Dow Jones in the 10-month period fell 9.92%, the S&P 500 fell 18.76% and the Nasdaq fell 29.77%.

Since the beginning of the year the FTSE 100 is down 3.93%, the DAX is down 16.56% and the Cac 40 is down 12.39%.

October emerged as the best month of 2022 for the Athens Stock Exchange, which, following the global wave of market recovery, was able to recover significant ground lost at the end of the summer with monthly gains of 10.26%. In the same period, the Banks sector index recorded gains of 18.3%.

It is worth noting that the +10.26% of the General Index is the best monthly performance of the last 23 months, with the next highest recorded in November 2020 (+29.4%). Year-to-date, the DG is down 2.13% and the bank index is up 5.11%.

At the same time, since the beginning of the year, the Greek market also stands out, in sixth place among all assets internationally and third in terms of stock markets (after the Bovespa of Brazil and the stock market of Portugal) recording losses of only 2.13% at the time the plunge in Nasdaq, Hang Seng, MOEX and MSCI Emerging Markets exceeds 20%, notes Deutsche Bank.

Returns in October

In the month of October, the biggest increase was registered by the shares: Intertec (+27.33%), PPC (+22.88%), Mevaco (+21.62%), Mytileneos (+21.37%), National (+21 .28%), Pairis (+21.13%), Piraeus (+20.54%), Progressive (+17.92%), Eurobank (+16.82%) and Alpha Bank (+16.38%) .

On the contrary, in October, the biggest drop was recorded by the stocks: ANEK (-23.81%), Yalco (-20.69%), Euroxx (-19.35%), Intrakat (-18.93%), Leventeris ( -18.57%), Akritas (-14.56%), Elite (-10.34%), Prodea (-9.77%), Xylemporia (-9.52%) and three Alphas (-9, 52%).

Of the high capitalization shares, only the share of Quest Participations (-3.59%) registered a decline.

The biggest increase was shown by the shares: PPC (+22.88%), Mytileneos (+21.37%), Ethniki (+21.28%), Piraeus (+20.54%), Eurobank (+16.82%) ), Alpha Bank (+16.38%), PPA (+15.71%), Terna Energy (+14.06%), Aegean Airlines (+13.12%), Viohalco (+12.26%), Lamda Development (+11.76%), ELPE (+10.38%) and GEK TERNA (+10.18%). The shares are: Ellaktor (+8.91%), Motor Oil (+7.68%), OTE (+7.07%), Elvalhalcor (+6.87%), Jumbo (+5.42%), Sarantis (+4.27%), Titan (+4.24%), Coca Cola HBC (+4.22%), ADMIE (+3.46%), OPAP (+0.98%) and EYDAP (+ 0.42%).

Yields in 10 months

In the 10-month period, the biggest increase was recorded by the shares: Euroxx (+198.51%), Yalco (+130.00%), Mathios Pyrimaha (+42.14%), Prodea (+41.24%), Terna Energy (+ 38.59%), KREKA (+35.29%), Ellaktor (+33.64%), Domiki Kritis (+30.00%), Mevaco (+29.19%) and Intertek (+26.44%) ).

In the 10-month period, the biggest drop was recorded by the shares: Lavipharm (-70.69%), Varvaresos (-60.87%), SATO -50.00%, Frigoglass (-48.58%), Epilites (-48.00% ), Kecrops (-46.16%), Thrace Plastics (-45.28%), Xylemporia (-40.62%), Attica Bank (-38.81%) and Medicon (-37.30%).

From the high capitalization stocks in the period January-October 2022, gains were recorded by the following stocks: Terna Energy (+38.59%), Ellaktor (+33.64%), Motor Oil (+26.40%), Ethniki (+ 25.17%), Jumbo (+14.21%), Mytileneos (+12.23%), Eurobank (+12.18%), ELPE (+11.09%), Aegean Airlines (+4.06%) ) and GEK TERNA (+1.26%).

On the contrary, the biggest fall was recorded by the shares: Quest Participations (-35.49%), PPC (-32.02%), ADMIE (-30.60%), Sarantis (-28.65%), Coca Cola HBC ( -27.33%), Elvalhalcor (-22.59%), Viohalco (-17.21%), Titan (-15.55%), Alpha Bank (-12.91%), Lamda Development(-11, 22%), EYDAP (-7.81%), PPA (-6.74%), Piraeus (-3.10%), OTE (-2.18%) and OPAP (-0.56%).
