Bolsonaristas attack PRF with iron bar and even barbecue in SC

After insisting on blocking the BR-470 on the stretch in Rio do Sul, in the Vale do Itajaí region, in Santa Catarina, anti-democratic protesters attacked PRF (Federal Highway Police) agents this Monday (7).

According to the police, the confrontation began after the lane was cleared, around 3:30 pm, when agents sought to identify who had disobeyed the court order not to block the highway. Protesters then attacked officers with iron bars and throwing objects.

Two officers had minor head and arm injuries. One of them’s helmet was dented by a blow from an iron bar. A 37-year-old man was arrested. The highway was blocked again and the PRF requested support from the Military Police Shock Troop at the scene.

This is the last blockade in the state, which had more than 30 interdictions last week.

Videos on social networks show images of the confrontation, with masked green and yellow protesters responding with aggression and insults to the approach of the agents. You can see chairs and a barbecue being thrown towards the police.

In the distance, other agents fire tear gas canisters at the protesters.

Earlier, in the morning, there was another attempt to reactivate a blockade of the BR-101 in Palhoça, in front of a Havan store, without success.

In Novo Progresso (PA), anti-democratic protesters also clashed with the PRF on Monday. Sticks, stones and shots were fired at the agents.

Santa Catarina had its highways taken over by blockades after the result of the presidential elections on October 30, in a national movement of Bolsonaristas who do not accept the victory of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The state gave Jair Bolsonaro (PL) a wide advantage over PT at the polls.

The Federal Supreme Court (STF) determined on November 1st the unblocking of roads throughout the country, in addition to a fine and imprisonment for those involved. Since then, the PRF has demobilized more than a thousand blockades. In this second, some interdictions persist in localized points.

After three days of silence, Bolsonaro recorded a video asking that the highways be cleared. In Santa Catarina, the PRF even used the footage to convince protesters to clear the roads.
