Meta Platforms, the parent of Facebook, is behind a US$60 million deal (R$388 million at the current price) to buy the trademark rights of the US regional bank Meta Financial Group, the companies said on Monday. -Friday (13).
Meta Financial announced this Monday to the market that a company in the US state of Delaware called Beige Key closed an agreement to buy the rights to the names of the institution worldwide for US$ 60 million in cash.
“Beige Key is one of our affiliates and we bought the rights to the brand,” said a spokesperson for Meta Platforms. A representative of Meta Financial also confirmed the involvement of Facebook’s parent in the deal.
Facebook announced in October that its parent company had changed its name to “Meta Platforms” to underscore the company’s focus on so-called “metaverses.”
