Panel SA: Industry asks for law with eternal environmental protection policy

by

At a CNI (National Confederation of Industry) event at COP27, the entity’s president, Robson Andrade, defended the approval of a law to shield the export industry from the actions of governments that do not prioritize the defense of the environment.

“The country needs a state policy for sustainability. It needs to adopt a consistent plan to decarbonize the economy,” said Andrade.

The speech by the president of the entity was not rhetorical. Industries in the mining sector and agribusiness complain about losses in sales abroad due to an embargo against products “made in Brazil”.

They say that, despite following international production standards, they are being viewed with suspicion by foreign buyers due to the image damage caused by the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, which encouraged environmental deforestation and removed the country from the discussion tables on climate change. .

For this reason, the CNI will ask the president-elect, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to carry out a project so that the country’s engagement in socio-environmental causes is perpetuated by its own legal framework, which cannot be modified by a new president.
