The vice-president-elect and coordinator of the transitional government, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), said this Thursday (16) that issues related to anchoring and fiscal austerity will be discussed by the team, but that this will not be done at this time.
Alckmin also stated that this will not be a “spending government”, but mentioned that it is necessary to guarantee resources for the payment of income transfer programs, for the maintenance of works in progress and also for investments.
“President Lula, if we take his two mandates, the hallmark was fiscal responsibility. It will not be a spending government, now, you need to have a minimum to be able, on the one hand, to guarantee the social protection network, even more so in this moment of socio-economic crisis, and on the other hand the functioning of the state”, replied the vice-president-elect, when questioned about discussions related to fiscal anchoring.
“You cannot stop work. There are no resources even foreseen in next year’s Budget to be able to continue the works. There is nothing more expensive than stopped work and also having the minimum for investment, because this will be important in the resumption of the economic growth,” he said.
The provisional government organized an event this Thursday, in which Alckmin announced new names that will make up the team. In the end, the vice-president-elect was questioned about the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) of the Transition, to guarantee resources for the payment of R$ 600 of Auxílio Brasil, which will be called Bolsa Família. He avoided explanations and only added that the “value details and all that” would be explained “soon”.
