See who’s who in the transition groups on Work and Social Security

by

The technical groups for the transition of the government of President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) on Social Security and Work will include a former minister, researchers and trade unionists.

Today the two themes are in the same ministry. During most of Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) management, they were just secretaries in Paulo Guedes’ Ministry of Economy.

In July last year, he recreated the portfolio and gave it to his ally Onyx Lorenzoni, who ran for governor of Rio Grande do Sul in October, but was defeated.

The names that will compose the working groups were announced this Thursday (16) by the elected vice-president and coordinator of the transition, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB). There are 16 names in total (10 from Labor and 6 from Social Security), mostly union members.

The presidents of the three main trade union centrals are part of the work team: Sérgio Nobre, from CUT (Central Única dos Trabalhadores); Miguel Torres, from Força Sindical; Adilson Araújo, from CTB (Central dos Trabalhadores e Trabalhadores do Brasil).

In addition to them, there are also members of academia, researchers and professors. In the Work team, for example, there is Fausto Augusto Júnior, university professor and director of Dieese.

The group will also have the participation of Laís Abramo, sociologist, master and doctor in Sociology from USP, specialist in inequalities and racial and gender relations at work.

The only former minister is José Pimentel, who was a federal deputy and senator for Ceará, as well as Minister of Social Security in Lula’s second government.
