A survey by Alelo among commercial establishments revealed that the majority ran their business without knocking on the doors of banks looking for loans for working capital, which signals a resumption of post-pandemic activities.
However, three out of every ten businessmen consulted claimed to have resorted to credit relief.
In this group, just over 13% said they had taken out loans for over a year; 11% accessed credit recently; and 7% last year.
More than half used the borrowed money to pay bills and the other part (45%) invested in expanding or improving their business.
Alelo surveyed 700 establishments, half of which were restaurant and supermarket owners.
