Six out of ten commerce, industry and service companies are unaware that, like the credit card, it is already possible to offer the option to pay in installments for a purchase via Pix. That’s right, the Pix in installments.
This is what a survey by the analytical intelligence company Boa Vista shows. However, when they found out about this modality, 72% of the interviewees indicated their intention to make it available to the customer.
The research aimed to map the use of new forms of payment offered to consumers, mainly Pix in installments and the so-called BNPL (buy now, pay later), also known as digital credit.
In the case of BNPL, used in countries like the United States and England, the rate of ignorance reaches 85%. This format combines different forms of installments, including credit card, debit and Pix installments.
Boa Vista claims that the implementation of Pix, in 2020, accelerated the payment dynamics in the financial sector, but many companies are still resistant to additional features.
In the case of BNPL, entrepreneurs are less willing.
Launched in November 2020, at the height of the pandemic, Pix became the darling of Brazilians due to the speed of payments and fee-free transfers. According to data from the Central Bank, from November 2020 to September 2022, 26 billion transactions were made through the instant payment tool, with transacted amounts of BRL 12.9 trillion.
In the Boa Vista survey, Pix is pointed out as the most accepted means of receipt among establishments, followed by physical money and debit and credit cards.
