Panel SA: Ticket sales for New Year’s Eve parties animates the events sector

by

The events sector, one of the most affected by the pandemic, is preparing to resume in style in the New Year celebrations, despite the uncertainties that still surround the omicron variant of the coronavirus.

Although several capitals have canceled the celebrations so as not to stimulate crowds, beaches in the Northeast and several tourist cities will have shows, and many are almost sold out.

The organizers promise to demand a vaccination certificate and comply with other health protocols.

New Year’s Eve parties in the Northeast are 95% full, according to Ingresse, which sells tickets for 215 events. The company says that sales for the last five months surpassed those for the full year in 2018.

Some packages on offer on the internet charge up to R$8,000 for four parties. The cheapest ticket to see Lulu Santos sing at the foot of Christ the Redeemer, in Rio de Janeiro, costs R$1,110.

According to the Brazilian Association of Event Promoters (Abrape), more than a third of companies in the sector ended their activities during the pandemic, which represented the closing of 24 thousand deals.
