Katseli Law: Debt cancellation for vulnerable households – In which cases it applies

According to a circular from the governor of AADE, Mr. Pitsilis, in order to erase the balance of the debt, it is not enough for the debtor to pay his installments to the tax office for three years, but he must also be consistent with the other creditors

The Independent Public Revenue Authority is proceeding with the cancellation of debts of vulnerable households that were included in the Katseli law and have been serving for three years the regulation approved by the court.

It is estimated that about 100,000 debtors, out of the 200,000 who applied to be brought under the law, are regularly servicing their obligations, as they were settled by court order.

According to a circular of the administrator of AADE, Mr. Pitsilis, in order to erase the balance of the debt, it is not enough for the debtor to pay his installments to the tax office for three years, but he must also be consistent with the other creditors.

It is also clarified that the deletion can be made even if the sale of the debtor’s assets by the liquidator has not been completed.
