Quoted to head the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC) in the future government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), the president of Fiesp (Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo), Josué Gomes, meets this morning Wednesday (14) with the president-elect in Brasília.

Upon arriving at the hotel where the PT supporter is staying, Josué confirmed to the Sheet that he was going to meet with the president-elect. According to Lula’s allies, he should formalize the invitation to the businessman.

Son of José Alencar, who was Lula’s deputy in 2002, Josué has already been sought out twice by the PT’s interlocutors. In recent days, he grew in the betting exchange to command the portfolio.

Allies close to the president-elect believe he would like to see Josué as a minister. However, according to the businessman’s interlocutors, he would be reluctant to accept the invitation – and everything will depend on the conversation he has with the PT candidate.

PT supporters believe in the president-elect’s power of persuasion, although Josué Gomes has alleged difficulty in relinquishing command of companies. He is president of Coteminas and has been at the helm of Fiesp since the beginning of 2022 – his mandate runs until 2025.

In conversations, Lula usually exalts the relationship with the businessman’s father.

For Josué’s allies, this could be an honorable way out of the crisis he faces within the federation. Therefore, the businessman would be inclined to accept the invitation, depending on the structure of the new ministry.

In recent months, Josué Gomes has been under pressure at Fiesp. Opposition unions to the businessman’s management published on Sunday (11) the call for an extraordinary meeting on the next 21st to discuss the conduct of the president of the entity – and which could result in his dismissal.
