Automakers are starting to reveal their plans for 2023. This Wednesday (14), Ford confirmed the launch of 10 new products over the next year, with emphasis on SUVs produced in Latin America.

The company projects an average growth of 5% in the national market next year, but believes that it will register better results.

Between January and November, the company sold 18,400 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Brazil. It is a low volume when compared to the numbers obtained in the times of national production, but in line with the company’s global strategy, with a greater focus on profitability.

The main novelty will be the new generation of the Ranger medium pickup, confirmed to be manufactured in Argentina. In addition to the updated design and interior, the model will have a digital dashboard and new diesel engines.

The utility is the most competitive vehicle of the American brand in the Brazilian market. The current option had 12,700 units licensed between January and November, ranking fourth in sales in its segment.

The average diesel pickup that leads the domestic market is the Toyota Hilux, with 42,800 units licensed in the accumulated 2022. Data are from Fenabrave (association of vehicle distributors).

Ford will also have new versions of the Transit van, which is assembled in Uruguay. The hybrid version of the Maverick pickup is also confirmed for 2023. Produced in Mexico, it is equipped with a 2.5 liter gasoline engine, which works in conjunction with the electricity system.

The 100% electric SUV Mustang Mach-E will come from the United States with autonomy to run approximately 400 kilometers. Ford is testing the GT option in Brazil, capable of going from zero to 100 km/h in less than four seconds.

Another “made in USA” model is the large F-150 pickup, also confirmed for next year. Its audience is in agribusiness, a sector that faces a queue to buy RAM brand models, the only ones officially available in this niche market.

Other debuts are still a secret, but it is possible to say that the new generation of the Territory SUV will be among the launches. The model will grow and receive a new engine to try to overcome its weaknesses, which are the small trunk and timid performance.

In the motorcycle sector, the highlight is the arrival of the Indian giant Bajaj to the national market. The brand debuts with three models and five dealerships in the state of São Paulo.

The first motorcycles, all from the street segment, cost from R$18,860 – suggested price for the Dominar 160, equipped with a 17 hp engine. There are also the Dominar 200 (R$ 19,637) and Dominar 400 (R$ 24,200) options.

The models are assembled at the Dafra factory in Manaus. For 2023, Bajaj plans to expand its dealer network, with confirmed stores in Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Florianópolis and Rio de Janeiro.
