Panel SA: Pilots reject new proposal and strike is maintained

by

The air crew decided this Sunday (18) to maintain the strike scheduled for this Monday (19).

The category rejected a proposal presented by Snea (National Union of Airline Companies) after negotiation mediated by the vice-president of the TST (Superior Labor Court), Minister Aloysio Corrêa da Veiga.

With the category decision this Sunday, delays in takeoffs scheduled between 6 am and 8 am at the airports of Congonhas (São Paulo), Guarulhos, Galeão, Santos Dumont (both in Rio), Viracopos (Campinas), Porto Alegre, Fortaleza, Brasília and Confines (Belo Horizonte) are maintained.

The aeronauts approved on Thursday (15) the carrying out of an indefinite strike starting on Monday. The date coincides with the week before Christmas and, therefore, the peak period for air travel.

On Friday, Minister Maria Cristina Peduzzi, of the TST, partially complied with a request from the airlines and determined the maintenance of 90% of the crew to remain active. The reading of the union of aeronauts is that the design defined for the strike allows it to continue, at the same time that the decision would be fulfilled.

Crew members will continue to work and report to their jobs, but will delay early morning departures. The union estimate is that flights departing between 6 am and 8 am represent 1% to 2% of the crew active at that time.

76.3% of the pilots, co-pilots and flight attendants who voted chose not to accept the Snea proposal. In all, 5,767 voted in the online assembly that started at 10 pm on Saturday and ended this Sunday, around 3 pm.

The proposal presented by Snea at the TST provided for the renewal of the current collective agreement for aeronauts, readjustment of salaries and benefits by the INPC (National Consumer Price Index) plus 5% real gain (above inflation) and the inclusion of a new clause which authorizes crew members to voluntarily sell some clearances.

In a transmission carried out this Sunday afternoon, the president of the SNA, Henrique Hacklaender, instructed the crew to go to the airports, even those that do not have takeoffs scheduled for early in the morning.

“He goes to the airport, meets with colleagues who are there and, from then on, we stay at the airport until 8 am,” he said. “‘Ah, but my takeoff is between 6 am and 7 am’. No problem, he meets with his colleagues and stays there as a sign of protest against this proposal, which does not match what was requested,” he said.

Hacklaender said, in the broadcast, that the companies did not agree to discuss rules for rest, rest and crew breaks. “Companies refused, during this whole period, to minimally meet this and, for that reason, tomorrow, yes, we will do a stoppage.”

Snea represents Azul and Gol in the negotiations; Latam discusses the collective agreement directly with the crew unions.
