Panel SA: Directors say that, to continue at Fiesp, Josué will have to be present

by

Josué Gomes’ refusal to assume command of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Commerce in the Lula government 3 made his situation at Fiesp, the federation of industries in São Paulo, more difficult.

Josué is still under pressure from 86 of the 111 unions who want his resignation, if he does not convince them that he will devote more time to defending the interests of industrialists in São Paulo, mainly in Brasília.

Behind the scenes of this dispute is what the unions consider the leader’s unavailability to the entity. They report, privately, that Josué spends more time at the head of their companies than at the helm of the federation.

For this reason, behind the scenes, a considerable portion of this disgruntled group defends the dismissal of Josué, who would be replaced by Rafael Cervone.

In this case, the idea is that he calls elections. There is already an articulation around José Ricardo Roriz Coelho as the name of one of the plates. Paulo Skaf himself would be another name. But if he doesn’t want to, as he has been saying to sector leaders, Roriz would receive support.

Despite this pro-election movement, there is still a willingness among union delegates who voted for Fiesp for Josué to continue ahead, as long as he is committed to the entity.

Signal of the opening for a recomposition, they decided to schedule the general meeting for January 16, the same day of the meeting scheduled by the director. The unions also accepted the date proposed by Josué to avoid legal questions about an unfavorable result for the leader.

The document was sent to Fiesp this Sunday (18). The previous date was December 21st. The trade unions ask, for example, that Josué list how many times he was in Brasília (DF) in Fiesp agendas and how many interviews he granted “in favor of the defense and effective representation of the industrial economic category”.

In another questioned point lies an important reason for tension between the unions and the president, which is the composition of the councils and departments. Leaders say that the leadership of these sectors used to be indicated by the unions, something that is no longer done.

The requests for assembly, the document with the questions and the two notices were signed by 86 representatives of 80 unions, the majority among the 111 entitled to vote on the council.

Josué assumed the presidency of Fiesp in early 2022, after being elected on a single ticket, with the support of his predecessor, Paulo Skaf, who spent 17 years at the head of Fiesp. With an eye on electoral flights, Skaf left the industry entity.
