Government of RJ publishes IPVA 2023 payment schedule

The government of Rio de Janeiro released, this Monday (19), the maturity calendar of the IPVA (Tax on Motor Vehicle Ownership) for 2023.

The tribute may be paid in up to three installments or in a single installment. In the latter case, there will be a 3% discount on the amount paid in installments.

The first installment or the single quota expires on January 23rd, for vehicles with final license plate 0. For those who choose to pay in installments, the second installment is due between the end of February and the beginning of March, and the third between the end of March and the beginning of April.

The government of Rio informs that the payment will be made through a GRD (Debt Settlement Guide), which can be withdrawn on the IPVA Portal of the State Treasury Department or on the Bradesco bank website. In this case, the taxpayer will need to inform the numbers of the Renavam (National Registry of Motor Vehicles) and the owner’s CPF or CNPJ. Payment can be made at any bank branch.

The IPVA is calculated according to the market value of each vehicle, according to the Fipe table (Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas), with rates of 4% for flex-fuel cars, 2% for motorcycles, 1.5% for vehicles that use CNG (Vehicular Natural Gas) as fuel, and 0.5% for electric cars.

The IPVA is calculated according to the market value of each vehicle, according to the Fipe table (Fundação Instituto de Pesquisas Econômicas), with rates of 4% for flex-fuel cars, for example.

The government of Rio de Janeiro states that it will publish the table with the market values ​​of vehicles by the end of this year.
