According to information from the Argentine press, there were two injured in Mar del Plata in the celebrations for winning the title of the World Cup in Qatar by the Argentine team, on Sunday (18).

A five-year-old boy was hospitalized in a coma after being hit in the head by a piece of marble that fell from a statue of Juan Domingo Perón in Plaza San Martín.

And a man was also admitted to the hospital in serious condition due to a stab wound to the arm that affected the brachial artery, causing massive bleeding.

The incidents took place in the center of the city, where thousands of people celebrated the World Cup in the streets for more than five hours.

The child, accompanied by the family, would have been at the base of the statue when the piece of marble came off. In video footage posted on social media, it is possible to see many people in the square. Some were on top of the monument. The authorities have already started the investigation, collecting images of the square to try to identify the moment of the incident.

He was taken to the Hospital Interzonal Especializado Materno-Infantil, where serious head trauma was confirmed. The medical team then placed him in a coma with mechanical ventilation to treat the injury.

The other case would also have occurred near San Martín square. The man would have been stabbed during one of several fights recorded in the streets. Part of the attacks was recorded in a video made with the cell phone of a party goer.

Brawls like these also took place in the capital Buenos Aires as the Argentine team progressed from the quarterfinals and semifinals of the Cup. According to the newspaper La Nación, those injured in those episodes are still hospitalized in serious condition.

Another case was registered by the Argentine police on Sunday night. A drunk fan with a bruise on his head, indicating that he had participated in a fight, invaded the house of a woman in the Tiro Federal neighborhood of Trelew, claiming that she was his wife. She, however, claimed to have never seen him before.

After he verbally assaulted and threatened her, the police arrived, and the man was taken to the police station.

In the province of Catamarca, in the north of the country, three men were arrested for assault and theft during celebrations in Plaza 25 de Mayo.
