Mercadante announces businessmen and women for the new BNDES board

by

Aloizio Mercadante, the future president of the BNDES under Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, announced the names of four directors who will occupy positions on the board of directors of the development bank. They are: Alexandre Abreu, former president of Banco do Brasil and former president of Banco Original, José Gordon, from Embrapii, Natalia Dias, from Standard Bank, and Luciana Costa, from Natixis. Currently, the BNDES has only one director.

The announcement was made at a lunch with businessmen from Esfera Brasil this Wednesday (21st), in São Paulo, in a meeting seen as an attempt to iron out rough spots after the negative repercussions with which the market received Mercadante’s nomination last week. In all, there should be nine directors.
