Panel SA: Industry takes requests to Alckmin with suggestion to recreate former Lula council

by

In the document with 14 proposals delivered by the CNI (National Confederation of Industry) to Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, who assumes the new MDIC (Ministry of Development, Industry and Commerce), the entity asked for the recreation of the CNDI (National Council for Industrial Development) , the Council formed in Lula’s first term with ministers and business leaders.

In the list, the CNI also suggests that the government prioritize the approval of PEC 110 for the tax reform and amend the Lei do Bem to stimulate innovation, among other old demands of the sector.

According to the CNI, the meeting in which the document was delivered to Alckmin by Robson Andrade, president of the entity, lasted more than two hours.

The gesture is seen as the opening of dialogue and paves the way for rapprochement with the business community, after some stumbles with the sector at the start of the new government. Before appointing Alckmin to head the ministry, Lula tried, but failed, to attract a strong name from the industry to the post. Still in the campaign, the petista did not participate in the series of meetings promoted by the CNI with presidential candidates. The conversation focused on Fiesp, led by Josué Gomes.

For the CNI, the recreation of the council (linked directly to the president, with the executive secretary under the responsibility of the new MDIC) is one of the useful measures for the implementation of a modern industrial policy capable of solving collective problems.

The new MDIC, according to the request that the CNI delivered to Alckmin, should also have the executive secretary of Camex (Chamber of Foreign Trade). “The CNDI should be responsible for planning, defining targets and evaluating the industrial policy and Camex, for planning, defining targets and evaluating the foreign trade policy”, states the document.

According to the CNI, keeping the executive secretariat of the two collegiate bodies in the same ministry, and both with private participation, can help align the two policies.
