Panel SA: Contactless payment must be among new consumer habits in the post-pandemic

by

In the series of changes in habits that consumers adopted in the pandemic, contactless payment or payment by approximation seems to have taken hold in commerce. Currently, the method appears in 8 out of 10 establishments, such as bars, restaurants, supermarkets and butchers, according to a survey carried out by the Locomotiva Institute at the request of VR.

The increase in the use of cards with NFC technology (by approximation) began to rise sharply early in the pandemic, spurred by measures of social distancing and reduced hand contact to try to avoid the contagion of the coronavirus.

Other forms of payment enabled by Pix have also grown: 70% of respondents provide QR Codes to customers and 29% send payment links.
