Amateur sports are supported with 31 million euros

Deep financial breath for amateur sports. The General Secretariat of Sports announced that it will be strengthened with 31 million euros as an advance from the taxation of the bet.

L. Avgenakis: “We actively support the amateur clubs, their championships, our National teams, the athletes”

By Joint Ministerial Decision (Government Gazette B ‘6056, 21/12/2021) of the Deputy Minister of Finance, Theodoros Skylakakis, the Deputy Minister of Finance, Apostolos Vezyropoulos and the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports, Lefteris Aveganakis, .000 euros, in proportion, against future distributed payments “from the new way of taxing the winnings of the betting players.

“I warmly thank the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the co-responsible colleagues, Mr. Staikouras, Mr. Skylakakis, Mr. Vezyropoulos and the entire Government,” said Mr. Avgenakis for the 31 million euros, which support and strengthen

* around 5,000 amateur clubs of all sports across the country, further strengthening the amateur leagues and development categories,

* amateur clubs competing in European competitions,

* our national teams of all age categories, of all Federations (Olympic and non-Olympic sports, but also Paralympic Sports),

* the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the Hellenic Paralympic Committee, for our pre-Olympic and pre-Paralympic teams.

“In the last 2.5 years, the sports reform, which we are implementing with vision and consistency, is producing obvious results, improving and developing Greek sports, despite the huge obstacles caused by the pandemic worldwide. “Our sports reform aims to restore our country, with extroversion, among the top in the world and focuses on the cell of development, the support of amateur clubs, athletes” stressed the Undersecretary of Sports, emphasizing that:

“We take care every day of the foundation of our sports building, amateur sports, athletes, healthy agents and the hundreds of thousands of parents who trust their children in sports clubs. And this is proven in practice with the specific funding of 31 million euros, which raises to 100 million euros the money that has been given to Greek sports in the last 12 months.

Our sport is changing, Greece is changing us, following the Olympic saying “faster, higher, stronger”! And as recently completed… TOGETHER! All together “concluded Mr. Avgenakis.

The funding of 31 million euros, which will be paid in the coming weeks directly to all the amateur clubs registered in the Register of Sports Clubs of the Ministry of Sports and is equal to the corresponding advance paid months ago in professional sports (football and volleyball leagues, football ), is distributed as follows:

A. NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS (26%)

* A1 Women’s Football 3%

* A1 Women Basketball 3%

* A1 Women’s Volleyball 3%

* Men’s A1 Polo 3.5%

* A1 Women’s Polo 3%

* A1 Men’s Handball 3.5%

* A1 Women’s Handball 3%

* First National Indoor Men’s Soccer 1.5%

* DG National Men’s Soccer Category 2.5%

> In order for each of the above categories to receive the full amount due to it, the condition is the participation of at least twelve (12) teams. In case less than twelve (12) groups participate, then the category will receive a proportionally reduced amount, according to the number of participating groups (eg if nine (9) groups participate, it will receive 9/12 of the amount corresponding to it).

> The final amount corresponding to the category is distributed equally to all groups participating in the category.

Mandatory 7% of the amount that each sports team will receive will be paid to the organizing authority, for the organization of the championships. For this purpose, the corresponding amount will be withheld and returned to the organizing authority.

B. OTHER AMATEUR ASSOCIATIONS (35%)

The following criteria are taken into account for the calculation of the amount that will be received by each amateur club that is a beneficiary:

> The number of sports cultivated by the sports club (and for which it has received special sports recognition from the GGA). [50 μονάδες για κάθε άθλημα]

> The number of coaches he employs (as stated in the Electronic Register of Sports Clubs kept by the GGA) [25 μονάδες για κάθε προπονητή]

> The number of athletes registered in the club (as it is registered in the Electronic Register of Sports Clubs. In any case the number of athletes can not exceed fifty (50) per registered coach [1 μονάδα για κάθε αθλητή]

> The annual expenses of the club (as they are reflected in the report of the club, which is declared in the Electronic Register of Sports Clubs) [0.001 μονάδα ανά ευρώ εξόδων].

* After adding up the total number of units of all the beneficiary clubs, the resulting total will be divided by the total amount corresponding to the amateur clubs, so that the value of one unit is obtained. Then, the amount (the value) that will result from the division, will be multiplied by the units of each association, in order to obtain the total amount that each association will receive.

* Especially as for the advance payment that will be paid to the amateur clubs, regardless of the units that each sports club gathers, it will receive as a base amount the amount of one thousand six hundred euros (1,600 €).

C. EUROPEAN EVENTS (9%)

The calculation of the amount that the eligible sports teams will receive, will be done based on the units that will be collected by each, based on the following way:

* The European competitions in which the teams take part, are divided into three (3) categories:

> 1st category (Champions League, Champions Cup, Euroleague etc).

> 2nd category (Europa Cup, Cup Winners’ Cup etc)

> 3rd category are other European events.

* With the participation of each sports team in a European event will automatically receive the following points:

> in the 1st category 10 units

> in the 2nd category 08 units

> in the 3rd category 06 units

* All the leagues that have participated in only one European event and one representative are classified in the 3rd category.

* For each match in which each sports team participates, regardless of the event, it collects another (01) points.

* Depending on the points that each group collects, the amount that corresponds to it will be calculated, on the total amount that corresponds to the specific category. Specifically, after adding the units of all the groups, they will be divided by the total amount corresponding to the category, so that the value of one unit is obtained from the division. Then, the amount that will result as a unit value, will be multiplied by the units of each group, to obtain the amount to which it is entitled.

D. NATIONAL TEAMS (30%)

The following criteria are taken into account in calculating the amount to be received by the beneficiary national groups:

> Distinctions of the National Team [1 μονάδα για κάθε εκατοστό στη βαθμολογία ως προς τις διακρίσεις από το πρόγραμμα αξιολόγησης ΧΙΛΩΝ]

> Expenses of each Federation for its National Teams [0.001 μονάδα για κάθε ευρώ εξόδων, όπως αυτά προκύπτουν από τον απολογισμό που κατατίθεται στη ΓΓΑ].

* In the National Teams corresponding to the Olympic Federations 75% of the corresponding amount is distributed, in the Hellenic Olympic Committee an amount of 5% is distributed (for the preparation of the Greek Olympic Mission), in the National Teams corresponding to Paralympic Federations 5% of 5% (for the preparation of the Greek Paralympic Mission) is allocated to the Hellenic Paralympic Committee and 10% of the amount corresponding to the category is distributed to the National Teams corresponding to non-Olympic Federations.

* In the National Teams of the Olympic Federations of Football (EPO), Basketball (EEC), Handball (OXE), Volleyball (EOPE) and Swimming (KOE), the amount corresponding to them is increased by 10%.
