The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), appointed this Thursday (12) the engineer Wilton Ruas da Silva for the position of executive director of Procon São Paulo. The choice breaks a recent sequence in which only law graduates held the position.
With the exception of Alexandre Modonezi, who is a philosopher by training, but was already working in the public service when he passed through the agency, Paulo Arthur Góes (2011), Paulo Miguel (2016), Fernando Capez (2018) and Guilherme Farid (2022) graduated in right.
The Procon regulation establishes as a criterion for occupying the position “persons of notorious knowledge in the area of consumer protection and unblemished reputation”. Wilton’s career, however, was made in the private sector, in companies with no connection with consumer law.
Wilton acted as advisor to the technology company Oki Brasil and worked at Itautec. On his Linkedin profile, Wilton declares himself to be an experienced CEO with a history in the information technology and services industry.
Wilton’s mandate will be for two years with the possibility of extension for the same period.
