From on April 1st the new increase in the minimum wage will take effect, confirming relevant information from SKAI. According to the SKAI report, the minimum wage is expected to increase to 770 to 780 euros.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced on Friday the new schedule for the establishment of the minimum wage that will come into effect from April 1.

An amendment by the Ministry of Labor accelerates the start and conduct of the procedure for determining the minimum wage for 2023, in order for the new increased minimum wage to come into force from April 1, 2023, in accordance with the recent commitments of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Specifically, with regard to the timetables provided by the current legislation for each stage of the procedure, it is provided that:

  1. The sending of a written invitation by the Coordinating Committee of the consultation to specialized scientific and research bodies to write a report on the evaluation of the current statutory minimum wage will take place until January 20.
  2. The drafting and submission of the report will take place no later than February 3, 2023
  3. The transmission of the memorandum and documentation of each person consulted by the Coordination Committee to the other representatives of the social partners, with an invitation for oral consultation, will take place no later than February 10, 2023.
  4. The transmission of all the memoranda and the documentation of the consultees as well as the report of the bodies to the Center for Planning and Economic Research (KEPE) for the drafting of the Draft Consultation Conclusion will take place no later than February 20, 2023..
  5. The draft consultation conclusion shall be completed by 28 February 2023 at the latest.
  6. Finally, the recommendation of the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs to the Council of Ministers for the determination of the minimum wage for employees and the minimum daily wage for artisans will be submitted by March 10, 2023 at the latest.
