by

The Procon-SP (São Paulo Consumer Protection and Defense Foundation) notified Americanas this Friday (13) about the news published since Wednesday (11) involving the accounting scandal of R$ 20 billion in the balance sheet of company.

The agency questioned the company about the impacts of the operation on consumers.

“In addition to informing the extent to which purchases made by consumers are compromised and detailing how many people will be affected, it should clarify whether the complaints of the last 90 (ninety) days on the Procon-SP platform are related to the problems reported and, if so , what is the company’s action plan for the solution”, says a note released by Procon-SP.

According to the organ, last year, the group had almost 9,500 complaints registered by consumers.

The company has until the 17th to respond to questions from Procon-SP.

The report sought Americanas to comment on the notification, but did not receive a response as of this writing.

Americanas faced several consumer complaints in February 2022, when a hacker attack hit the group’s websites (Americanas.com, Submarino, Shoptime, Sou Barato).

The attack, which left the sites offline for four straight days, generated losses of around R$ 1 billion.
