Skrekas to SKAI: We “threw” 1 billion euros to absorb the increases in energy

by

“The state has ‘thrown’ 1 billion euros to absorb the increases in the energy sector, a huge number,” Environment and Energy Minister Costas Skrekas told SKAI.

The 700 million euros come, as he said, from the Energy Transition Fund, while another 300 million euros come from PPC and other providers.

“After the state subsidies, a household for a 4-month PPC bill, comes and pays about 50 euros more in an energy consumption of 300 euros in 4 months,” he said.

Asked about further strengthening of the subsidy, he replied that it is a big conversation and measures will be announced.

He noted that Europe could not be left out of the energy price rally and that it needed to take action.

For the support of companies, he explained that the approval of the European Competition Commission must be obtained first, because otherwise he explained that “they are illegal state aids which, if we give them, we will have to recover later, even with interest”.

He also noted that the credit to the gas bills will be a 15% discount for October-November and 40% for December, while he explained that discounted bills are already being printed.

The discount in megawatt hours reaches 50-55% also stated, and is close to the price of the megawatt that had in the corresponding period last year
