Lula government has first round of meetings with couriers

by

This Tuesday (17th), the motorcycle couriers will have their first meeting with the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The meeting will be with Gilberto Carvalho, secretary of solidarity economy at the Ministry of Labor and Employment, in São Paulo.

Representatives of motoboy unions, entities that represent self-employed motoboys and people regarded as leaders in the states will participate in the meeting.

A few days ago, a group of couriers gathered under the Application Deliverers Alliance asked for a meeting with Minister Luiz Marinho, of Labor and Employment, and with President Lula.

The group also approved a strike call for the 25th of this month. The stoppage is intended to put pressure on the apps to improve their remuneration and the relationship with couriers, and also wants to ensure that any negotiation on the regulation includes the self-employed.

App representatives are looking forward to getting a date to sit down with the government. The MID (Digital Innovation Movement), which brings together apps such as 99, Mercado Livre, Loggi and Rappi (there are about 150 companies) forwarded on Friday (13) a meeting request for the 19th.

They want to debate, in addition to the regulation of delivery services, the rules for passenger travel. The meeting request is signed by the president of the MID, Vitor Magnani.

The creation of a set of rules for work mediated by applications will be on the agenda of two other meetings scheduled for this week.

The first will be on Wednesday (18) with President Lula and representatives of trade union centrals such as UGT (General Union of Workers), Força Sindical, CUT (Central Única dos Trabalhadores) and CSB (Central dos Sindicatos do Brasil), in Brasília (DF) ).

On Thursday (19), also in the federal capital, there is a forecast for another meeting of the centrals with Minister Luiz Marinho, in which representatives of the National Council of Moto-delivery Unions should participate.

In addition to the rules for applications, a policy to value the minimum wage, protection for the unemployed, a price policy for essential products, regular stocks, job creation and union restructuring will be on the agenda of the central meetings.

Earlier this month, the chairman of the council, Gilberto Almeida dos Santos, who also heads the São Paulo union, sent the government a request for a meeting to discuss the situation of these workers.

There is still no closed proposal for a rule to protect employers. The CLT (Consolidation of Labor Laws) is one of the central points of the dispute between unionized and self-employed motoboys from various groups. The unions do not give up formalization, but in the other groups, the mandatory registration in the portfolio is not a consensus.
