Aid of R$ 600 starts to be paid this Wednesday (18), without the additional for children

The federal government begins this Wednesday (18) payments for January of the income transfer program that will once again be called Bolsa Família. The minimum amount transferred to beneficiary families is R$ 600.

According to the Ministry of Social Development, the same Auxílio Brasil cards are still valid for withdrawals and movements and beneficiaries do not need to change or update them.

The agency claims to work to, as of March, include R$ 150 more per child from zero to six years old in families in socially vulnerable conditions. The extra value is a campaign promise by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

Payments are made in stages, according to the benefit number. The first to receive this month’s installment are beneficiaries with a final NIS (Social Identification Number) of 1. The calendar ends on January 31, for a final NIS of zero.

The program will serve 21.9 million families this month, in the total amount of R$ 13.38 billion, in 5,570 municipalities in the country. The average amount received per family is R$ 614.21, informed the government.

Re-registration: 2.5 million families may be irregular

This Monday (16), after the inauguration of the new president of Banco do Brasil, Tarciana Medeiros, the Minister of Development and Social Assistance, Wellington Dias, informed that the ministry will carry out an active search and re-analysis of families from the Cadastro Único who receive the Bolsa Familia.

According to the minister, of the 10 million families with evidence of outdated registration or irregularity, there are 2.5 million that have a stronger indication of not fitting the rules to receive the benefit.

The government has not yet officially launched the new Bolsa Familia. On his Twitter, President Lula did not use the terms Bolsa Família or Auxílio Brasil, trademarks of the Bolsonaro government, to refer to the January payments. The Ministry of Social Development also avoided using the name Auxílio Brasil, referring only to it as “the federal government’s income transfer program”.

“The federal government is now working to make the new Bolsa Família viable, which will include, among other initiatives, the payment of R$ 150 more per child from zero to six years of age in each family. , in partnership with states and municipalities, an update of the Single Registry of federal government social programs and an active search for beneficiaries who are not yet on the list. The intention is to ensure that CadÚnico reflects the universe of people in the most accurate way in a situation of vulnerability in the country”, says the ministry, in a note.

“We decided to suspend this modality for two reasons. The first is that the government is reviewing the registration. [manter]. The second is that interest rates are too high for this portion of the population,” he said on Thursday.
