Tesla will stop allowing video games to be played on the dashboard of its vehicles while they are in motion, the US traffic safety agency, NHTSA, said on Thursday (23).
The agency has opened a formal inquiry involving 580,000 Teslas sold since 2017 over the automaker’s decision to allow games to be played on the touch-sensitive panel installed in the car’s central dashboard.
Tesla has told NHTSA that a software update will prevent the “Passenger Play” feature from running and that it will become unavailable when the vehicle is in motion, an agency spokesman said.
Tesla officials did not immediately comment on the matter.
