President Jair Bolsonaro signed this Friday (24) two provisional measures that open credit of R$ 10.5 billion for the payment of emergency aid to the vulnerable and economically impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and for the purchase of vaccines.
According to notes from the Presidency of the Republic, one of the MPs will open a credit of R$ 4.1 billion to the Ministry of Citizenship for the payment of the aid.
“The measure aims to defray expenses with the expansion of Emergency Aid, due to the inclusion of all providers of single-parent families, regardless of gender”, said the Presidency in a note.
The other MP will guarantee credit of R$ 6.4 billion to the Ministry of Health for the purchase and production of vaccines through grants to the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) and the National Health Fund.
Fiocruz has a partnership with the AstraZeneca laboratory for the production in Brazil of the vaccine developed by the pharmaceutical company with the University of Oxford against Covid-19.
Provisional measures take effect as soon as they are edited by the president and published in the Federal Official Gazette, but they must be approved by the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate within 120 days, otherwise they lose their validity.
