Brazil closes 431,000 jobs in December, but the balance for 2022 is positive at 2 million, shows Caged

Brazil closed 431,011 formal job openings in December, according to the General Register of Employed and Unemployed People (Caged) released this Tuesday (31) by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, but ended 2022 with a positive balance of 2.038 million jobs.

In the previous year, 2.777 million posts had been opened in net terms, according to the adjusted series. The December result came in worse than the net loss of 371,500 jobs projected by analysts in a Reuters poll.
